Beat 1: My Mistake

He had been long gone before I realized that the pedestal I thought he had put himself on had been built by my own two hands.

And I think he was just afraid of heights.

No Such Thing As A Final Product

image

You never fully know yourself. Each of us is constantly evolving and growing; there is no one static product to know ourselves by. So remember to be constantly learning about yourself as much as we do others. Take time to explore likes and dislikes, what makes you passionate and why. Answers have the ability to change and we owe it to ourselves to know, discover and grow.

The Love Diaries: 006

Daydreams

I indulge myself with thoughts of you;

The way your hair falls as you fall out of bed

The way your laugh fills my chest

The way your hands feel like home

And the way we intertwine and I feel like there’s never enough time.

Never enough you.

Review: Wiped Out! // The Neighbourhood

image

Well holy fuck. Yup that about sums up my initial reaction as I listened to The Neighbourhood’s second album. They didn’t disappoint and they quelled my fears that the sound I fell in love with would be lost as I feel happens with most second albums. Most musicians use the second album to evolve but end up with a new fucking species. Luckily, not this time. Still continuing with a dark, cool and dreamy sound the boys only changed by nailing their unique sound. This album creates a desire to watch the days pass in black and white on a California beach. And even though the message may be dark as it coincides with the beats the vibes will make you want to lay back in a pleasant daze as sunshine creeps over your body. From R.I.P. to My Youth to Crybaby everything is the same, only better.

Those chills you get when you hear a song and know everything has been changed by the way the rhythm dances up your spine.

Conscious Thinking

God bless conscious thinking*. And let this serve as a reminder that you DO control your thoughts and emotions. Sometimes the process in doing so is exhausting and we give in, and we let things overwhelm us. It’s ok to let things get to you, to have a wide variety of emotions and feel things intensely. But the key is to remember that we shouldn’t let those emotions permanently keep us down. We have to remember that we always have a choice. We can take things and choose how to respond, choose how we let something effect us and apply this choice to any situation. Conscious thinking requires reflection and anticipation. When dealing with situations, each of us has to be able to reflect on our typical knee jerk reactions so that we can see how that choice hindered or empowered us. Just as we need to reflect we must also anticipate things. It is important to anticipate the different ways we can react and predict how all the different possible reactions will effect our future. By reflecting and anticipating, we actively work towards a better self.

Why I Write

Inspired by Twitter’s #WhyIWrite trend

Writing is my release; I don’t write for it to be pretty, I don’t write for recognition. I write because I need it. It is my solace from the rush of thoughts and emotions that overwhelm me in the late, quiet hours of the night. Writing is my opportunity to release what the white knuckles of my mind can no longer bare to hold onto. I write in the heat of a moment, at the tipping points in order to rebalance myself. I write to save myself. I write to save my sanity.
